Here are three entertaining novels to enjoy from our apartments in Highlands Ranch, CO

1. All The Light We Cannot See

Anthony Doerr’s critically-acclaimed novel weaves together the parallel stories of two children living in different countries who are both caught up in the chaos of World War II. Maria is a blind French girl fleeing Paris with her father after the Nazis arrive. Werner is a German orphan with a talent for repairing radios. All The Light We Cannot See tells the separate stories of these two lives, building up to the moment when their paths cross in surprising ways.

2. The Museum Of Extraordinary Things

Travel to New York City in 1911 with Alice Hoffman’s mesmerizing novel that’s part romance and part mystery. Coralie is a young woman whose father runs a popular freak show in Coney Island. She even uses her exceptional swimming skills to perform as the Human Mermaid. But a chance encounter with Eddie, a young Russian immigrant with a passion for photography, will change her life forever. The Museum Of Extraordinary Things is a page-turner that incorporates several famous historical events into its story, including the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire.

3. The Paris Wife

The setting of this inventive novel is Paris during the 1920s, a golden age when the famous writers and artists of the day would hang out together in smoky cafes. The Paris Wife tells a fictionalized account of Ernest Hemingway’s life with his first wife, Hadley, as they tried to settle into a new life in France. Paula McClain’s descriptive writing paints a vivid picture of this colorful period, while also telling a complicated love story.
